U.S. aims to help Azerbaijan become a strong - Ambassador Cekuta

The U.S. aims to help Azerbaijan become a strong, prosperous and independent state, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta said on Friday, APA reports.
The ambassador said that the joint activities of the U.S. and Azerbaijan cover the spheres of economy, security, the rule of law, human rights and democracy.
The diplomat noted that the U.S. has provided $125 million assistance to Azerbaijan’s IDPs since the beginning of 1990.
Referring to the upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan, Ambassador Cekuta stressed that for the U.S. a free and fair election is important.
