The most important thing now is to sign a peace treaty with Armenia, begin demarcation of borders and start other processes "as good neighbors,” Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria Huseyn Huseynov said in an interview with BNR Radio.

"We recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia and want them to have the same attitude towards us,” he added.

The ambassador emphasized that there are no obstacles from Azerbaijan to the residence of Karabakh Armenians in a multinational country. He also spoke about plans for the reintegration of local Armenians into Azerbaijani society.

"If they [the Armenians who left Karabakh] want to return to Karabakh, the door is open,” Huseynov said.

The ambassador reminded that Azerbaijan also invited a UN mission to Karabakh to assess the situation on the ground: "On October 1, they visited the region and noted in their report that no damage was caused to civilian infrastructure.”
