Armenian government refutes report that 20 servicemen dead, 26 wounded

tert.am, one of the leading Armenian sites, has today reported on the latest situation on the front line with reference to the country’s defense ministry.

Earlier today, tert.am had reported quoting the Armenian Defense Ministry that 20 soldiers of the so-called ‘Nagorno-Karabakh’ army are dead and 26 wounded APA reports. In the same statement, the Armenian Defense Ministry had even urged the Azerbaijani side to put an end to its drastic steps.

Later on, the piece of information disappeared from the site, reappeared after a short while.

Then tert.am removed the news release again, noting that the sentence giving the number of casualties and injuries were ‘added’ information as the site had been hacked.

Today APA, citing special data, released information that Armenian special-purpose forces had faced serious casualties in the Terter-Aghdam direction of the front line.

The information said that the Armenians were shot at by Azerbaijani soldiers while assaulting on an outpost of the Azerbaijani Army. As a result, servicemen of the attacking group faced serious casualties and injuries. the enemy’s subunits managed to pick the bodies and return to their position.

Elsewhere in the direction of Aghdere, Azerbaijani servicemen completely destroyed an Armenian special-purpose group during a preventive operation. The Azerbaijani side also suffered casualties in yesterday’s incident.

According to information, a radiogram sent on July 30 by the Armenian Defense Ministry said to keep the dead and wounded servicemen in military hospitals in Nagorno-Karabakh, not to publicize casualties and “be careful” in releasing information about casualties, and publicize information about casualties in intervals. Another special instruction is to keep the wounded and killed servicemen in Nagorno-Karabakh, not to evacuate to Armenia yet.

Armenian Defense Ministry passed this decision in order to prevent the anxiety of the people. Armenian leadership intends to prevent aggravation of socio-political situation in the country.
