Europe preparing new package of sanctions against Russia

European countries are preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia in case Moscow refuses to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in an interview with AFP..

“We Europeans will support this American sanctions initiative with a 17th package of our own,” Barrot said. “Yesterday, I committed to [US Senator] Lindsey Graham that we would try to coordinate both the substance and timing of these two sanctions packages.”

The agency noted that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham had earlier proposed tightening anti-Russian sanctions.
