President Francois Hollande offered SAMP/T air-defense systems to Azerbaijan during his visit to Baku in May, Intelligence Online reported.

Hollande said the medium-range missile systems would help Azerbaijan protect its energy facilities in the Caspian Sea, the French newsletter said.

SAMP/T is being developed by Eurosam, a joint venture of the Thales Group and MBDA. It uses guided anti-aircraft missiles Aster 30.

Azerbaijan already has Russian-made S-300 air-defense systems in its arsenal.
