Aliyev sacks head of Gakh district after state security operation

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has dismissed Musa Shekiliyev from his post as head of the Gakh District Executive Authority, according to a decree published on Friday.

The dismissal follows a security operation carried out by the State Security Service (SSS) on Thursday, during which Shekiliyev, several of his deputies, and other officials were detained on suspicion of corruption. They were brought to Baku for questioning, according to official sources.
