Agramunt to prepare report on "political prisoners" in Azerbaijan

Preparation of a report on "political prisoners" in Azerbaijan has been commissioned to PACE deputy Pedro Agramunt from Spain, who is a rapporteur at the Monitoring Committee of the Assembly.

The decision was taken on the June 25 meeting of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights.

Irish MP Michael McNamara nominated Dutch MP Pieter Omtsigt as new rapporteur. However, he gained only 19 votes.

Agramunt was nominated as an alternative candidate. He received 29 votes.
