Iran’s foreign minister barred from Davos forum — organisers

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will not be allowed to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, organisers said in a statement.

In a post on the forum’s X account, organisers said that although Araghchi had been invited last autumn, the “tragic deaths of civilians in Iran in recent weeks” meant that participation by Iranian government representatives at this year’s forum was inappropriate.

Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the decision.
