Azerbaijan urges Israel to reconsider Armenian genocide decision

Azerbaijan urged Israel to reconsider its decision regarding the recognition of what Baku described as the so-called Armenian genocide, the foreign ministry said.

The ministry said it was seriously concerned by the Israeli government’s decision and described the politicisation of the 1915 events as unacceptable.

“Such steps do not contribute to reconciliation and mutual understanding, but rather deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region,” the ministry said.

Azerbaijan called on the Israeli government to review the decision.
