Azerbaijan interior minister congratulates police on 108th anniversary
Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov congratulated the personnel of the country’s internal affairs bodies on the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani police.
In a message released by the Interior Ministry, Eyvazov said the Azerbaijani police had gone through a path of development and become one of the state’s reliable pillars in ensuring lawfulness, public order and security.
He said that since 2003, the activities of the internal affairs bodies had been modernised in all areas, with professional personnel capacity, advanced technologies and a stronger material and technical base being developed.
The minister said police bodies continued to fight crime, transnational organised crime, cyber threats, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other serious crimes.
He also noted the role of police officers in ensuring security and strengthening lawfulness in territories liberated from occupation, as well as their contribution to reconstruction work.
Police Day in Azerbaijan is marked on July 2. It was established by a presidential decree in 1998 to commemorate the creation of the Azerbaijani police on July 2, 1918, by a decision of the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
