Bayramov says Azerbaijan has completed its part on peace deal
Azerbaijan considers the removal of territorial claims against it from Armenia’s constitution critical for the signing of the initialed peace agreement, the Foreign Ministry said in an official statement.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters that Azerbaijan had completed the work required from its side to finalise the peace agreement.
He said Azerbaijan and Armenia had signed a joint declaration during the Washington Summit, while the text of the peace agreement had already been initialed and made public.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan’s position on the issue was principled and had been stated by President Ilham Aliyev.
He said Baku expected territorial claims against Azerbaijan to be removed from Armenia’s constitution. After that, the peace agreement could be signed, he added.
Bayramov said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had again referred, after parliamentary elections, to steps being taken towards the adoption of a new constitution in Armenia.
