Zangezur Corridor to transform Nakhchivan into vital regional transport hub
The implementation of the Zangezur Corridor project will significantly boost freight transit and establish Nakhchivan as a primary transport hub in the region, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with Azerbaijan Television in Nakhchivan.
The Head of State noted that the corridor's initial cargo capacity is estimated at 15 million metric tons annually, with substantial growth potential over time. "More jobs will be created, economic activity will rise, and Nakhchivan will become, I can say, an indispensable transport hub. This is entirely achievable," Aliyev emphasized.
President Aliyev also highlighted Azerbaijan's plans to expand its energy export portfolio to Europe beyond oil and natural gas. "By expanding our export capabilities to neighboring countries, we will also access the European market. We have already entered the European market with our oil and gas, but we want to reach it with electricity as well," he stated.
