Pashinyan confirms visits by Azerbaijani technical experts to Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed that Azerbaijani technical experts previously visited Armenia, noting that visits took place in September 2025 and January 2026.

"During these meetings, issues related to power transmission lines, railway connectivity, pipelines, and other infrastructure domains were discussed. Armenia and Azerbaijan could establish a partnership, including the export and import of electricity," Pashinyan stated.

Addressing the potential closure of the Armenian (Metsamor) Nuclear Power Plant, Pashinyan remarked that the operational lifespan of the power unit is long-known information.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev warned during an interview with Azerbaijan Television in Nakhchivan of a impending energy crisis in Armenia following the eventual shutdown of the Metsamor NPP. President Aliyev affirmed Baku's readiness to supply the country with an additional source of electricity, revealing that Azerbaijani experts had already conducted essential technical surveys on Armenian territory and identified coordinates for electricity transmission towers.
