Head of Moscow Azerbaijani National-Cultural Autonomy Bakhtiyar Hasanov deported from Russia
Bakhtiyar Hasanov, head of the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in Moscow, has been deported from the Russian Federation, Azerbaijani news agency APA reported.
According to reports, Hasanov was transferred directly from a temporary detention facility for foreign citizens to the airport and escorted out of the country.
Hasanov was detained by Russian law enforcement agencies in June and placed in immigration custody. His Russian citizenship had previously been revoked last year.
Hasanov was elected head of the Moscow Azerbaijani diaspora body in 2022, leading initiatives focused on providing legal and social support to the Azerbaijani community in Russia and fostering cooperation across diaspora groups.
