01.05.2014 13:28

A group of Azeri jihadists fighting against government forces in Syria have made a video appeal, urging Muslims back at home to join the jihad, or holy war.

The video posted on the website of Azerbaijan’s privately owned APA news agency shows an armed man identified as the leader of Azeri jihadists in the Syrian town of Raqqa speaking to camera.

The man, surrounded by several dozen gunmen, says in Azeri that Muslim men and women back in Azerbaijan should leave the “country of kufr” and migrate to the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS).

At least two children are seen among the gunmen.

The man says they have established Sharia law and opened Muslim schools for their children.

He also says the ISIS has built a large army which has military hardware and even fighter jets in its possession.
