Azeri defense minister to visit Iran: report

Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Col-Gen Zakir Hasanov will visit Iran next month, APA said, citing an unnamed diplomatic source.

The three-day visit is planned to start on March 25, the Baku-based news service said.

The “prospects” of military cooperation between the two countries will be discussed during the visit, according to the report.

It will be Hasanov’s first visit to Iran as defense minister.

Hasanov replaced Azerbaijan’s long-serving defense minister Safar Abiyev in October. He previously served as commander of the Interior Troops.
