Aliyev visits Alley of Martyrs as nation mourns 1990 killings

President Ilham Aliyev visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay tribute to victims of the 1990 Soviet military crackdown on peaceful demonstrations in Baku that left 137 people dead and hundreds wounded.

Members of the cabinet, lawmakers and foreign ambassadors also attended the event.

The nation observed a minute of silence at 1200 local time.
