Leyla Aliyeva awarded medal 'For merits before the Volgograd region'

Azerbaijan intends to continue to do everything possible to develop and strengthen friendly relations with Russia.This was stated by the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chairwoman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) Leyla Aliyeva on 20 December at a meeting with governor of the Volgograd region Sergey Bozhenov.According to her, Azerbaijan appreciates the great Russian culture. Russia and Azerbaijan share a common history. Financed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the reconstruction of Friendship Park Volgograd-Baku is only the first step, and more interesting events will take place in the future.Leyla Aliyeva expressed the desire to open a regional office of AYOR in Volgograd and start exchanging experiences.Sergei Bozhenov reported that the Volgograd region is home to over 80,000 Azerbaijanis. Along with economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, he stressed importance of sharing experiences between the public and youth organizations. The governor announced his intention to make a business trip to Baku next year.Bozhenov believes Azerbaijan in the near future may become an important transport hub for transit flights to other countries, and stressed the desirability of opening a flight connecting Baku to Volgograd.After the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva was awarded medal "For merits before the Volgograd region". The governor noted that Leyla Aliyeva is the first foreign representative to be awarded this medal for public activities.The event also signed a protocol of intentions between Garadagh district of Baku and the Volgograd region. Chief Executive of Garadagh Suleyman Mikayilov said that the parties intend to continue to cooperate closely in many areas, including in the economic, cultural, sports, etc.(News.Az)ANN.Az
