Three people shot dead in Azerbaijan's northern district

Threepeople were shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the northern Azerbaijanidistrict of Zaqatala yesterday, police said.

 The gunmenfired on a Hyundai car in the village of Yuxari Tala, using an assault rifle.All four on board were injured, three of them fatally.

 The deadwere identified as Vuqar Racabov, Vasif Cafarov and Kamil Husanov.

 A Makarovpistol and drugs were found inside the car.  

 Policedeclared a hunt for the assailants.

Zaqatalaborders Russia’s southern region of Dagestan, where the government has been battlingwith an Islamic insurgency for more than a decade.
