(Baku Daily) - An Armenian blogger nicknamed “Kornelij” has posted an interesting photo of Yerevan on the Kavkazskiy Uzel website.

The blogger wrote in the caption of the photo: “A photo of Yerevan. 1940. Abovyan Street. This place is now called Aznavur Square. The building in the middle is Yerevan Hotel. It still is there. Next to it stands a Muslim religious building, kind of a mosque. Interestingly, further left to the building is Moscow Cinema, which is not seen in this picture. There used to be a church in that place. The church was blown up by Bolsheviks. It seems that the church and the mosque stood next to each other. I have heard about the church, but it is the first time I see the mosque.”

This is while Armenians are trying to deny the Islamic and Azerbaijani past of Yerevan. Azerbaijanis made up half of the city’s population in the 1920s. They even outnumbered Armenians, according to some estimates.
