EU agrees to scrap tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, Politico reports
The European Union has agreed to implement the terms of a trade agreement with the United States reached in July 2025, including the removal of tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, Politico reported.
Representatives of the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission held more than five hours of talks on legislation needed for the agreement to take effect, the report said.
Under the deal, the EU is to scrap tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, while Washington will cap tariffs on EU goods at 15%.
Politico said the EU had delayed ratification amid tensions with Donald Trump’s administration.
Trump said in May that the United States would raise tariffs on European goods after July 4 if the EU failed to meet its obligations under the agreement. He had threatened, among other measures, to raise tariffs on EU cars to 25% from 15%.
