“Moody's”: Azerbaijani banks have the strongest capital buffer among CIS countries
29.05.2020 07:52
Azerbaijani banks have the strongest capital buffers thanks to government aid for the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA), the largest bank in the system, Report informs citing Moody's Investors Service.

At the end of 2018, Azerbaijani banks' tangible common equity amounted to an estimated 20% of risk-weighted assets (RWAs), the highest in the CIS region. This is largely a result of financial rehabilitation at the IBA.

According to the agency, operating environment is stabilizing across the region as economic recovery takes hold: ‘We expect CIS economies to sustain economic growth in the next two years following a region-wide recovery in 2017-18. We have a positive outlook for CIS banks’.
