Zuckerman: Armenia needs to admit that inciting civil strife only leads to defeat
09.12.2021 17:00
Instead of accepting the olive branch from Baku and moving on to building peaceful relations, Yerevan is still looking for a scapegoat due to the lost war and a sense of inferiority created by the non-fulfillment of promises to the electorate, Irina Zuckerman, a US journalist, national security analyst, and lawyer, said, commenting on the decision of the International Court of Justice.

"The fact that Armenia constantly complains of discrimination from other countries, and at the same time uses the media to incite hatred against people of Azerbaijani origin, testifies to malicious intent on the part of the Yerevan authorities. They know very well what such intrigues lead to," the expert noted.

"Armenia needs to admit that inciting civil strife only leads to defeat," the analyst added.

She added that the International Court of Justice issued a decision in the form of 'interim measures,' thus showing that the situation requires urgent action: "In any case, as urgent as possible to obtain from international bodies that cannot enforce these decisions. However, this is an important step that highlights the crisis."

On December 7, the UN International Court of Justice secured Azerbaijan's petition for temporary measures to prohibit the propaganda of racial hatred by Armenia and individuals and organizations in its territory who target Azerbaijanis in their activity. The court instructed the Armenian side to take urgent measures to prevent the violation of Azerbaijanis' rights.
