The EU has indeed been more proactive in the pursuit of active normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan, US journalist, national security analyst and lawyer Irina Zuckerman told journalists.

She was commenting on the April 6 meeting between the president of Azerbaijan, the prime minister of Armenia and the head of the EU Council in Brussels.

"According to remarks by Charles Michele, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan have moved closer to finalize the peace agreements and instructed the foreign ministries to start the process of developing proposed terms for the final treaty. They had also discussed the immediate follow up steps and continuous engagement, from which it follows that the dynamics of the negotiations are moving in a positive direction,” the expert added.

"It is laudable that Azerbaijan and Armenia have committed to start the process on two central issues and to start the process by end of April. The talks are likely to be a long process because recognizing delimitation and demarcation of the borders means committing to a particular reality and in particular for Armenia, putting an end to mythology, and endless demands based on ancient historical grievances,” she added.
