Russian FM: EU abusing its relations with Azerbaijan & Armenia

The EU is abusing its relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia by promoting its civil mission on the territory of Armenia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

"The European Union is openly abusing its relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia, promoting its mission on the territory of Armenia, which raises doubts about the efforts that this can bring to the peace process,” Lavrov said.

"The EU mission did not achieve its result. Moreover, we saw that with the start of the mission, the position of the Armenian side on all tracks of the negotiation process became, let’s say, more destructive. As for the smooth transition of this mission to a second, longer-term one, we believe that this has happened in violation of the agreements reached in October,” Lavrov said.
