Analyst: Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations should be model for Central Asia

The relationship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan should serve as a model for other Central Asian states, Political Analyst Professor Alimusa Ibrahimov told.

Ibrahimov highlighted the significance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent visit to Uzbekistan and his meeting with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. "Both leaders expressed their commitment to developing relations during the joint press conference," he noted.

"It's evident that both sides are keen on advancing their relationship, as demonstrated by the various agreements signed during the visit," the analyst added.

The professor pointed out that some European countries and the US are attempting to hinder this process. However, he emphasized that Baku continues to pursue its independent foreign policy, prioritizing its own interests.

Ibrahimov stressed the importance of Azerbaijan's growing ties with Central Asian and Turkic states, stating that it serves the interests of all parties involved. "This development not only contributes to the growth of Baku and its partner states but also enhances integration among Turkic nations," he explained.

The political analyst highlighted the significance of Uzbekistan becoming Azerbaijan's second ally after Türkiye.

"This is important from both political and security points of view. This alliance represents a new level in Baku-Tashkent relations," Ibrahimov marked.

Ibrahimov concluded by noting that the Baku-Ankara relations have been a source of inspiration for other Turkic states. He emphasized that the developing ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are not merely rhetorical but are manifesting in concrete actions.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid a state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23-24. During his visit, he met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The presidents signed 12 documents.
