Western Azerbaijan Community condemns Amsterdam's baseless accusations

Western Azerbaijan Community condemns Amsterdam's baseless accusations
25.09.2024 15:38
The Western Azerbaijan Community has strongly condemned the Dutch Foreign Minister's allegations that Armenians were allegedly forced to leave Azerbaijan's Karabakh region.

In a statement, the Community emphasized that it is unacceptable for the Netherlands to systematically make unfounded claims against Azerbaijan. "Instead of slandering Azerbaijan, the Netherlands should fulfill its decolonization obligations following the UN Charter in its overseas territories such as Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Aruba, Curacao, and Sint Maarten, and stop violating the rights of the local population there," the statement reads.

The Community stressed that Armenians voluntarily left the Karabakh region, rejecting the Azerbaijani government's offer of reintegration and citizenship.

"Referring only to ethnic Armenians while ignoring Azerbaijanis forcibly expelled from Western Azerbaijan constitutes ethnic and religious discrimination. By refusing to carry out decolonization and violating the rights of the local population, the Netherlands has no moral right to talk about human rights and humanitarian issues," the statement continued. "We demand that the Netherlands stop its slander campaign against Azerbaijan and respect the rights of Western Azerbaijanis to return safely to their homes."
