Avaz Zeynalli released from prison due to health condition

Avaz Zeynalli, head of the online channel "Xural," has been released from prison due to serious health concerns.

According to Bizim.Media, the decision was announced during a hearing at the Nizami District Court, presided over by Judge Nigar Qadirli. The court granted the petition filed by Zeynalli and his lawyer, ruling that he be released from serving the remainder of his sentence on medical grounds.

Zeynalli did not attend the hearing in person and joined remotely from prison.

He had previously been diagnosed with cancer. In February 2023, the Baku Court for Serious Crimes sentenced him to nine years in prison.

Zeynalli was convicted under several articles of the Criminal Code, including fraud, repeated bribery, and influence peddling.
