Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the 3rd Global Media Forum in Khankendi has attracted broad international media coverage, as he addressed issues ranging from regional peace to the downing of an AZAL aircraft over Russian airspace.

Reuters reported that Aliyev criticized Moscow for failing to provide a logical explanation for the incident and demanded compensation for the victims and the damaged aircraft. He announced Azerbaijan’s intention to take the case to an international court, noting: “We will achieve justice. It took 10 years to investigate the Malaysian Boeing case.”

Agenzia Nova focused on Aliyev’s comments on peace talks with Armenia, quoting him as saying that the peace agreement could be initialed and is close to being signed, pending constitutional amendments in Armenia and the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Spanish outlets, including Europapress, Democrata, and Teleprensa, highlighted Aliyev’s remarks on the Zangezur corridor and the need for Yerevan to take more constructive steps in peace and transport opening efforts.

Turkish media, led by Anadolu Agency and broadcasters such as TRTHaber, NTV, and HaberGlobal, emphasized Aliyev’s criticism of Armenia’s isolationist policies and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s demand for compensation over the AZAL incident. They also echoed his support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Ukrainian media — including Ukrinform, UNIAN, and Gordon — covered Aliyev’s advice to Kyiv “never to accept occupation,” reflecting on Azerbaijan’s own experience of post-war recovery and its struggles during the 1990s.

Russian agencies such as TASS, RIA Novosti, and Lenta.ru also reported on Aliyev’s speech, particularly his comments on bilateral relations and the status of the AZAL investigation.
