A telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at Armenia’s initiative, as part of continued efforts to secure peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Pashinyan informed Putin in detail about his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Washington on August 8. Putin emphasized the importance of the steps being taken to ensure sustainable peace between Yerevan and Baku and reaffirmed Russia's commitment to support the trilateral agreements made at the highest level in 2020-2022. These agreements aim at the comprehensive normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including unblocking transportation routes in the region.

Putin also briefed Pashinyan on his meeting with U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and the upcoming summit with President Trump in Alaska. Pashinyan expressed support for the steps aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis peacefully.

The leaders also discussed several bilateral issues, with a focus on advancing trade and investment cooperation, as well as strengthening ties within the Eurasian Economic Union framework.
