Azerbaijan ready for different scenarios — ambassador

 The expansion of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine irritates Russia, Ukraine’s ambassador to Baku, Yuriy Gusev, told the Ukrainian outlet Telegraf.

He said the Naftogaz-SOCAR deal via the Trans-Balkan route strengthens energy security and deepens strategic partnership.

Gusev noted that Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the first days of Russia’s invasion and is expanding defence-technical cooperation.

“Azerbaijan is ready for different scenarios… it is a strong state and a regional leader,” he said. He added that Baku’s independent foreign policy is disliked in Moscow.
