Azeri presidential aide speaks at US Congress summit

 Hikmet Hajiyev, foreign policy aide to Azerbaijan’s president, took part in a Middle East summit held in the US Congress, Azerbaijan’s embassy in Washington said on Tuesday.

During the event, Hajiyev discussed the US–Azerbaijan strategic partnership as well as regional issues and global peace.

 Hajiyev’s participation follows the Aug. 8 Washington summit where Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration mediated by US President Donald Trump.

Aliyev and Trump also agreed to set up a Strategic Working Group to prepare a bilateral partnership charter.
