The deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan, Kanat Bozumbayev, who heads the state commission investigating the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer-190 near Aktau, said that the results may be published after the new year.

He noted that the typical regulatory timeframe for such investigations is about a year or more, and that the work is ongoing.

The aircraft crashed on 25 December 2024 while flying from Baku to Grozny, killing 38 of the 67 persons on board.

Kazakh authorities had earlier released a preliminary report indicating the plane likely suffered damage from external objects.
