Pellegrini to Aliyev: “You have come to your friends”

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, speaking at an expanded meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Bratislava, said Aliyev’s official visit marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.

Pellegrini noted that this is the first official visit of an Azerbaijani president to Slovakia and said the presence of a large Azerbaijani delegation signals strong potential for cooperation.

“Let me repeat that you have come to your friends. We consider you and your country our friends,” Pellegrini said.

He highlighted the opening of embassies in both countries, the work of the intergovernmental commission, and active ministerial visits. Pellegrini added that Slovakia faces significant challenges in energy security, stressing that Azerbaijan could play a key role in long-term diversification of supply.
