28.05.2020 23:50

Azerbaijan and the European Union have signed an agreement on readmission.

The document was signed by the Azerbaijani ambassador to the EU, Fuad Isgandarov, the embassy in the Netherlands told Trend news service.

In early February, the Azerbaijani parliament ratified an agreement signed earlier on visa regime facilitation between Azerbaijan and the EU.

The agreement was signed in November 2013 as part of the EU summit in Vilnius. The document was signed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, European Commissioner Stefan Fule and Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius.

The European Parliament has yet to ratify the document.

The agreement on visa simplification between Azerbaijan and the EU will take effect in autumn 2014.
