SOCAR to continue supplyng Georgia with gas till 2017

SOCAR will continue gasification of Georgia’s regions till 2017.

The gasification process will be continued within the framework of the memorandum signed yesterday between the company and the Georgian government. The memorandum has been signed by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev and Ministers of Economy and Energy of Georgia Georgi Kvirikashvili and Kakha Kaladze.

As a part of the new agreement, till 2017 SOCAR will gasify additional 100,000 families in Georgia. The plan of the country’s gasification for 2014 has been worked out.

“We enjoy support of the Georgian government and we are going to fulfill all the undertaken obligations and we are happy with the current level of our cooperation,” Abdullayev added.

Georgian Minister of Economy Georgi Kvirikashvili said this is a very important social project for Georgia and the government attaches a special importance to it. “Azerbaijan provides us support and assistance on this path,” he added. Minister said that Azerbaijan is an important investment partner of Georgia.

“In the coming years SOCAR is going to build the carbamide plant in Kulevi, which will demand investment worth about $1 billion, which will allow employing about 5,000 people,” Kvirikashvili said.
