Socar threatens to sue GW over damaging report

Azerbaijan’s state energy company Socar has said it may sue the London-based rights group Global Witness over a report that the company says is damaging to its reputation.“Socar reserves the right to resort to all appropriate legal measures and remedies against Global Witness” to protect its business reputation, the national oil producer said in a statement on its website.Global Witness claimed in the Dec. 10 report that private companies are benefitting from oil agreements with Socar.

Socar said the report is inaccurate and biased.
