William Hague to visit Azeri capital next week

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague will visit Baku next week to attend a ceremony where nearly 40 documents on Shah Deniz phase two natural gas development will be signed.Hague will also meet President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and other Azeri officials, said Irfan Siddiq, UK ambassador in Baku.The documents to be signed in Baku on December 17 include a final investment decision on the $25-billion Shah Deniz natural gas development and the Trans-Anatolia and Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline projects.London-based BP is the operator of Shah Deniz, estimated to contain 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Partners in the project include Azerbaijan’s state oil company Socar, Norway’s Statoil, France’s Total and others.
