US increases Azeri oil imports in first nine months of year

The United States imported9.37 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in the first nine months of 2013,up from 7.65 million barrels a year earlier, the US Energy InformationAdministration (EIA) said.

The US imported 2.1 millionbarrels of Azeri oil in September alone, EIA said.

The world’s largest economybought no Azeri crude in September 2012.

Azerbaijan exports oil viathe BP-led Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan link, the Western Route Export Pipeline (alsoknown as Baku-Supsa) and Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, as well as by rail.

Oil exports inJanuary-October 2013 fell to 28.7 million tons from 29.3 million tons a yearearlier, according to the State Customs Committee.
