Azercosmos selects Dan Radu as chief commercial officer

Azercosmos, the premier satellite operator in the Caucasus, has selected Dan Radu as its Chief Commercial Officer.

Dan has extensive operational and sales experience acquired over the past more than twenty years with industry leaders such as Intelsat, EMC2 and Cisco. An accomplished satellite engineer as well, he has also implemented operational rollouts both major satellite and media installations such as Deutsche Telekom and Discovery Communications, to name a few. With expertise across traditional cable, satellite data and media, Dan will set direction to Azercosmos’ growth strategy for years to come and will be responsible for the company’s sales efforts.

"Azercosmos chose Dan for this important leadership position because he has the best combination of technical expertise and track record of commercial success. Last but not the least, his customer oriented approach is in line with Azercosmos’ values . This quality was one of the key factors in our decision to move forward with Dan as Chief Commercial Officer,” said Rashad Nabiyev, CEO, Azercosmos.

With increasing demand for DTH, media and broadband applications Azercosmos will further strengthen the regional strategy and capacity via Azerspace-2, the second telecommunication satellite of Azercosmos. Mr. Radu will help in understanding needs of the new customers from the new regions the company targets. Azerspace-2 is scheduled to be launched in 2017.

Dan will lead both the sales and marketing teams and will be based in Azercosmos’ Baku headquarters.
