Azerbaijan, Georgia intend to support each other in countering separatism

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov have called for the development of bilateral military cooperation to counter terrorism and extremism.


Hasanov met with the Georgian prime minister during a visit to Tbilisi, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.


"Having noted that Azerbaijani-Georgian relations are developing on the basis of friendship and mutual trust, the meeting participants said periodic working meetings and mutual visits by the heads of state promote the strengthening of relations between the two countries. They also said these relations, which meet mutual interests, promote peace, stability and security in the region," the report said.


Kvirikashvili and Hasanov shared the view that "Azerbaijan and Georgia, as countries countering terrorism and separatism, should develop military cooperation and provide mutual support in these issues," the ministry said.
