Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan and son detained in Yerevan

Armenia's second President Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, have been detained by the Anti-Corruption Committee, officials and the former leader's office confirmed.

Law enforcement agents have launched coordinated raids across properties linked to the Kocharyan family in Yerevan, including the Orange Premium Fitness Club and a Toyota dealership. Concurrently, masked officers from the National Security Service (NSS) cordoned off the residence of Kocharyan's younger son, opposition lawmaker Levon Kocharyan, to conduct searches.

The swift crackdown follows a fierce exchange on the parliament floor between Levon Kocharyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, where the prime minister publicly vowed to confiscate the family's assets.
