US Strategic Petroleum Reserve falls to lowest level since 1982

The volume of crude oil held in the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) has dropped to its lowest level since November 1982, the US Department of Energy reported.

According to official government figures, emergency crude inventories in the reserve have contracted to 285 million barrels.

The drawdown highlights a historic multi-decade low for one of Washington's primary energy security buffers, reflecting prolonged pressure on national reserve balances.
