Armenia and Azerbaijan may sign peace deal in Turkey — Hraparak

Armenia and Azerbaijan may sign peace deal in Turkey — Hraparak
19.06.2025 17:00

Armenian newspaper Hraparak reported on Wednesday that a preliminary peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan could be signed during an upcoming visit by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Turkey.

Although officials have not disclosed the agenda of the visit, members of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party are reportedly discussing the possibility of a deal, brokered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The report also suggests that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev may travel to Turkey, with both sides potentially signing an agreement that would include provisions excluding foreign military presence — implying the withdrawal of Russia’s 102nd military base from Armenia.

The agreement is said to contain an annex listing Baku’s additional demands, including the "return" of 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenia.

The Armenian government has not commented on the report.
