Turkey is ready to open a consulate in the city of Shusha or any other city in Karabakh, depending on Azerbaijan’s decision, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bağcı said in an interview with APA.

“We submitted our application to open a consulate in Shusha back in 2021. No country has a consulate there yet. It is Azerbaijan’s sovereign decision,” the ambassador said.

Bağcı also said that the opening of Turkey’s border with Armenia depends on regional normalization. If a sustainable peace deal is signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the terms related to the Zangezur corridor are fulfilled, Ankara may open the border in coordination with Baku, he noted.
